Reflections... Welcome summer... Recently, I attended a Harlem Writers Guild event honoring two spectacular African American men celebrating their history in film, theater, and music as award-winning producers of some of the most outstanding celebrities, entertainers, and musicians of our time: Voza Rivers, and Dr. Woodie King, Jr. The event took place at The New York Society Library, and the host was brilliant playwright, Michael Dinwiddie. I encourage everyone to view the documentary series, The 1619 Project, with Pulitzer Prize winning journalist, Nikole Hannah-Jones, streaming now on Hulu, as well as the documentary, Who We Are: A Chronicle of Racism in America, hosted by activist and attorney, Jeffery Robinson, streaming on Netflix. Both documentaries are filled with enlightening African American history.
